The stories behind our labels

When you pick up product in the supermarket aisle, what do you really see? A label with a familiar font. Maybe the word “organic” stamped boldly across the front. A checklist of ingredients you can barely pronounce. It’s all meant to say, “Buy me”.

But we’ve learned something in the fields, not the factories. Real trust isn’t told. It’s shown. It’s grown. At Roswods, this belief became our compass. “Built on Truth” is a brand pillar but it goes far beyond the point and has the foundation we walk on. Because in a world flooded with claims and marketing jargon, truth is the most radical thing we can offer.

Truth is the bridge that closes that distance.

We started Roswods because we didn’t want to sell products without soul. We didn’t want to hide behind vague sourcing claims or glossy packaging. We wanted you, the person cooking, tasting, trusting, to know exactly what you were holding.

That meant tracing every ingredient to its source. Every cinnamon stick. Every bag of podi. Every pouch of curry powder. We wanted you to know the hands that grew them, the soil they came from, and the way they were nurtured from seed to shelf.

So we built our sourcing on transparency tools that let us map back to the farmer. We partnered only with growers we could visit. We made batch-level records that told a story, not just a code. It wasn't easy. But truth never is.

We also decided to tell you what’s not inside our products. No anti-caking agents. No fillers. No flavour enhancers. Just clean, traditionally processed spices made the way they were by generations before.

Why? Because trust needs clarity. And clarity needs openness.

Let’s talk facts: a 2022 study from the International Food Information Council found that over 70% of consumers read ingredient lists, but less than 30% actually trust what they see. Another global survey by Edelman revealed that 67% of consumers want brands to take a stand on transparency and social impact, but over half say they rarely see that in action.

We’re not perfect. But we’re trying.

Built on Truth means we tell you what’s working and what we’re still working on. Not every farmer we partner with is “certified” organic, because certification takes time and money that many growers don’t have. But we prioritise regenerative practices, and we support our growers in reaching those standards without pushing them out of the system.

We believe that food should feel like a relationship, not a transaction. That when you open a Roswods product, you’re not just seasoning a dish. You’re entering a story. One where a turmeric farmer in Dambulla, a podi blender in Jaffna, and you — the one in the kitchen — are all connected.

That connection is powerful. It grounds us. It restores what’s been lost in a system that values speed over soul. When we say “Built on Truth,” we’re talking about more than supply chains.

We’re talking about values:
  • Trust over trends.
  • Transparency over polish.
  • People over profit.

It means listing our farmers as co-creators, not just suppliers. It means telling you why our masalas cost what they do, because fair pay, regenerative methods, and small-batch roasting aren’t cheap shortcuts. They’re ethical choices.

It means holding ourselves accountable.
When food brands hide behind buzzwords, the cost is carried by the people at the bottom: the growers, the land, and ultimately, you. The eater. The one who wants to feed their family something better.

We didn’t want to be just another brand on the shelf. We wanted to be one you could believe in. So we chose a path that’s slower. More honest. More human.

At Roswods, our vision is clear: healthier food for all, grown in trust and rooted in regeneration. We see a world where food choices don’t just nourish the body, they restore the Earth and the communities behind it.

Our mission? To reconnect Earth, producers, and consumers through food that heals, grown regeneratively, sourced responsibly, and delivered with care.

We do this by:

  • Championing regenerative farming
  • Reviving traditional food wisdom
  • Supporting producers as fair-paid partners
  • Offering clean, nutritious alternatives
  • Reimagining the food system with resilience

That’s the work. And truth is the thread that holds it together.
