Ingredients List

  • 3 medium sized onion - sliced
  • Asafoetida, a pinch
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 5 tbsp chickpea flour
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 stick curry leaves
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp vallarai paruppu podi

Instructions

  1. 1. Take a wide mixing bowl. Add sliced onions, curry leaves and green chilies. Add asafoetida, salt and red chili powder. Mix everything well.
  2. 2. Add vallarai paruppu podi, chickpea flour and rice flour. Add water little by little and mix everything well.
  3. 3. The batter should not be too thick or thin. Finally, add 1 tbsp oil and mix again. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  4. 4. Heat groundnut oil for deep frying. Deep fry pakora in batches till they turn golden brown and crispy. Serve warm with mint chutney or tomato sauce.
